Reopening 10th May

Its so great to hear the news of our return back to the salon from the 10th of May.

It’s been a tough year and we are so happy to be planning your return. Thanks so much for all the messages and well wishes. We would like to thanks all our online shoppers who have been keeping and managing the hair condition at home.
We will begin wading through the waiting list from next week on but first and foremost we will be honouring those appointments from the 29th December first as I know lots of you missed bookings in October, November and December right through to now. If your favourite hairdresser isn’t available I would encourage you to try one of our other excellent team members.
We are a small team with a big name so I ask you all to be kind and patient. We will get to you all.
Thanks from John and all the team.

    Thoughts on home hair color.

When we closed the salon last week, the prevailing thought at the time was we would only be closing for a period of two weeks. A lot has change since then. We now know all about flattening the curve and what it takes ,social distancing, wash your hands, cough into you elbow. The hopes of getting away with a two week shut down now look naive, it looks more likely we won’t be able to open the salon for somewhere between the 8 to 12 weeks.

This has left us and many of you in limbo with your hair. In the last week many clients have been in touch asking for recommendations on home hair color so I wanted to address this.

Recommending home hair color is not straight forward for us, the reason being, we only work with professional brands and the numbering system is not the same for supermarket brands, also when we color  hair at the salon we go through a rigorous consultation to get the information we need to create a personalised color for you, this involves mixing ratios of multiple tones  to create the bespoke shade for every customer, then a professional application to create the desired result . Because each color is bespoke and tonal it does not translate to anything you would buy of the shelf . We would find it hard to stand over any home color system that we know little about.
Personally, I always think its better to look underdone than end up looking home colored.  Think of this down time as an opportunity to treat and nourish your hair and scalp , think about all the times you were too busy to do a hair mask or a nice blow dry using all those products you bought that are sitting on your dresser! Now is that time,  nourish and treat your hair and you will be surprised how it’ll look in a short space of time.

In saying all that there are ways you can camouflage heavy grey re-growths with some temporary root spray color, ie Loreal magic root touch spray or Charles Worthington to name a few. They comes in many shades, wash out and are easy to use use.
As you can see this is a very general guide that I hope has gone some way to answered your questions. If you decide to go the home color route please follow the manufacture guide lines, skin testing is vital where stated.

If you decide to go natural for a while, think of all the fun we will have once we get back to the salon, to create a whole new you for summer 2020.

We would much prefer to be at the salon right now doing all of the above and having the chats and laughs. I’ve been doing hair since I was sixteen and haven’t  stopped since so this feels very strange to me also. This time will pass and become a piece of history , and hopefully sooner rather than later we will all be back to normal , until then stay safe and wash your hands!
We will keep everybody posted as to developments.
